In 2023, Fuzhou was honored with the inaugural Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities, becoming the only winning city in China. Fuzhou Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Cities Co., Ltd. has closely aligned itself with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, deeply participating in various aspects of Fuzhou's sustainable urban development, helping to build a modern international city and promote urban sustainable development.

May 30, 2023: Assisted in applying for the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities

The Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities is an international award jointly established by UN-Habitat, China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, aimed at recognizing outstanding cities worldwide that have made significant progress in sustainable development.

On May 30, 2023, under the direct leadership of the Fuzhou Municipal Government, and led by the Municipal Construction Bureau, our team responded actively and deployed quickly. Chief Planner Chen Liang led the effort, forming a special application team specifically managed by Deputy Chief Planner Dong Jingming and Professor-level Senior Engineer Chen Limei, gathering multi-disciplinary experts to collaborate. The team ultimately produced a bilingual application in Chinese and English titled "Ecological, Resilient, and Shared Happy City - Fuzhou's Case of Sustainable Development," supporting the application for the inaugural Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities.

October 28, 2023: Fuzhou won the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities

On October 28, 2023, Fuzhou was awarded the inaugural Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award), becoming one of the five cities globally to receive this honor and the only city in China to win this prestigious award.

October 28-29, 2023: Deep involvement in award ceremony and related conferences

From October 28 to 29, 2023, our team was deeply involved in the preparation of the Awarding Ceremony of the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award) and 2023 World Cities Day China Observance, and other related conferences and events, providing significant support for Fuzhou's successful participation in various activities.

October 30 - November 1, 2023: Participated in preparing for Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo

From October 30 to November 1, 2023, our team, along with Fuzhou Urban Construction Investment Group and Fuzhou Water Group, jointly organized the Fuzhou exhibition area at the 2023 Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo. The exhibition area received visits from leaders across the country, including then-Deputy Mayor of Fuzhou Zhu Xunzhi, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Zhang Xiaohong, and a Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, gaining high recognition and unanimous praise from various leaders.

November 8, 2023: Sustainable Development Expert Seminar

On November 8, 2023, the Fuzhou Urban Sustainable Development Expert Seminar was held at Yushan Hall. Our team actively cooperated with the Municipal Construction Bureau in conference preparation, on-site maintenance, and other support work. The seminar invited renowned scholars and expert professors in the field of urban sustainable development, including Academician Meng Jianmin, Academician Shen Zhenjiang, Professor Mao Qizhi, Professor Chen Bingzhao, Professor Wang Yong, and Professor Zheng Ban. They shared sustainable development concepts and experiences, and jointly envisioned a blueprint for future sustainable development around the theme of "Open Inclusion, Sustainable Development." At the meeting, Fuzhou City also released the first batch of 56 Fuzhou urban sustainable development demonstration cases and the first batch of 30 Fuzhou urban sustainable development tour routes, showcasing Fuzhou's practices in urban sustainable development to society.

November 8, 2023: Sustainable Development City Work Promotion Meeting

In the afternoon of the same day, the Fuzhou Sustainable Development City Work Promotion Meeting was held in the Municipal Party Committee Hall. Lin Baojin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee, presided over and delivered a speech. Mayor Wu Xiande made deployments, and Jiang Jinming, Deputy Director of the Provincial Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department, attended for guidance. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat, and Yang Rong, UN-Habitat Inter-regional Advisor, sent congratulatory videos. Shi Nan, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of Urban Planning Society of China, interpreted the relevant situation of the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award) through video. According to the spirit of the meeting, all levels and departments of the city will continue to align with the requirements of sustainable development goals, adhere to the essence of the "3820" strategic project thinking, accelerate the construction of a modern international city, and create Fuzhou experiences and models for the whole country and even the world.

December 25, 2023: "Fuzhou City Action Outline for Building a Sustainable Development City" issued

On December 25, 2023, the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government officially issued the "Fuzhou City Action Outline for Building a Sustainable Development City," proposing work objectives for Fuzhou's sustainable development city construction and focusing on 13 key tasks. The Outline proposes that by 2025, Fuzhou will deepen domestic and international exchanges and cooperation, collaborating with domestic and international cities to actively practice the United Nations "the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" and "New Urban Agenda," comprehensively promoting sustainable development in economic, social, environmental, and other aspects. By 2030, significant results will be achieved in building a livable, resilient, and smart modern international city, creating a "Fuzhou model" of sustainable development.

December 25, 2023: Fuzhou Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Cities Co., Ltd. officially established

According to the spirit of the "Fuzhou City Action Outline for Building a Sustainable Development City" document, Fuzhou Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Cities Co., Ltd. was officially established on December 25, 2023.
