Fuzhou Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Cities Co., Ltd. was established in December 2023 as a subsidiary of Fuzhou Yecheng Development Group Co., Ltd. It is a second-tier state-owned enterprise under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Fuzhou Municipal Government. The institute serves as a crucial think tank supporting the Fuzhou Municipal Government in implementing the initiative of people-oriented city and sustainable development strategies, accelerating the development of a modern international city, and contributing to China's modernization with Fujian characteristics and Fuzhou practices.
The company aims to promote urban sustainable development and primarily engages in a wide range of services. These include sustainable development reports, local indicators for sustainable development goals, industrial studies and planning, TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) and EOD (Ecology-Oriented Development) specialized research and consulting, climate change studies, and biodiversity studies. The company also provides research and consulting services on resilient cities, consulting, application, and communication services for international sustainable development and matters relating to human settlement, ESG assessment and consulting services, low-carbon city studies, natural environment researches, urban studies, building and municipal engineering drawing verifying, digital technology innovation, project preliminary research and consulting, and project operations. Furthermore, the company conducts carbon sink surveys and monitoring, carbon emission monitoring, safety monitoring of lifeline infrastructure such as bridges and reservoirs, ecological protection and restoration tracking and monitoring, as well as investigation and monitoring relating to sea area utilization assessment etc.
Key Achievements:
● Organized the Fuzhou Forum on Sustainable Development in Cities, and events relating to sustainable development showcase appraisal, promotion. Conducted the preparation of Fuzhou’s Sustainable Showcase Study (56 showcases being included), offering replicable Chinese experiences and Fuzhou solutions to global sustainable development.
● Hosted the Fuzhou Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurs Conference, releasing policy and project lists for sustainable urban development.
● Organized the first plenary meeting of the Mayor's Think Tank Expert Committee of the National Academy for Mayors of China under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China.
● Provided key technical support for Fuzhou's successful application as a first-batch urban renewal demonstration city, securing 800 million yuan in central government funding and earning commendation from the city government.
● Actively organized the International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development and the Annual Meeting of the Resilient Cities Professional Committee of the China Urban Science Research Society.
